I am a DONA trained labor/birth doula serving families in the greater Charleston, SC area.
I completed my DONA International training in Arlington, VA in March 2012. Though childbirth seemed a far step from my career in Information Technology, those closest to me knew that it was an extension of a lifelong interest in women's reproductive health. Since beginning this work, my interest in reproductive and maternal health has increased exponentially. I am passionate about empowering families to make choices that work for them when it comes to birth and I love learning new skills that allow me to better serve my clients. I feel truly blessed to be present at the most precious moments in the lives of so many families.
What is a Doula
The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during, and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
