About Maria

I am a DONA trained labor/birth doula and Hypnobabies instructor serving families in the greater Charleston, SC area. 

I completed my DONA International training in Arlington, VA in 2012. Though childbirth seemed a far step from my career in Information Technology, those closest to me knew that it was an extension of a lifelong interest in women's reproductive and maternal health. I am passionate about empowering families to make choices that work for them when it comes to birth and I love learning new skills that allow me to better serve my clients.

I also offer Hypnobabies classes to help my clients easily and naturally prepare for childbirth. Participating families and I will work together to create a peaceful, relaxing and more comfortable pregnancy, a calm confident Birth Partner, and an easier, much more comfortable natural birth.

I feel truly blessed to be present at the most precious moments in the lives of so many families. 

What is a Doula 

The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to the mother before, during, and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
